Community Conversations: Identifying, Preventing, and Avoiding Scams

Want to know why your phone rings so many times each day? Or is that person on Facebook or a chat room is “real?” Or why scammers choose to prey on the older Americans? We know “Iowa Nice” is more than just a phrase, it’s a lifestyle choice of Midwesterners. But “Iowa Nice” doesn’t mean “Iowa Easy-Prey”
Join us for a discussion of the current scams, trends that we see in scams, and how to spot them. Tasha Jones, Elder Rights Specialist for Connections, will discuss the red flags of scammers, why they especially target older persons, and what to do if you (or someone you love) becomes a victim of a scam.
